This website

The pages at myvoxbox.app are static files. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no comments and no forms. The site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. The web server keeps ordinary access logs (the address requested, the time, your IP address and your browser's identification) for operating the site, as any web server does.

Analytics on the homepage

The homepage, and only the homepage, loads a small analytics script from stats.myvoxbox.app, a self-hosted instance of Umami, a privacy-focused web analytics service. The collection pages, this page and the other pages of the site do not load it. The script is served by this site's own analytics server, not by Umami's cloud service or any advertising network.

What it records when the homepage is viewed, as deployed at the time of writing:

• a page view, with the page address and title, the referring page if any, your screen size and your browser language;
• the coarse browser, device type, operating system and country that Umami derives on the server from the request.

What it does not do:

• it sets no cookies and creates no identifier that is stored on your device;
• it records nothing you type or click on this site;
• it uses a separate Umami website from the player's, so a visit here is not joined to anything you do in the player;
• it never sees audiobook titles, listening positions, favourites, history or downloads, which exist only inside the player and only in your browser.

The homepage's analytics tag does not enable Umami's option to honour the browser's Do Not Track setting, so that setting does not stop the page view from being recorded. The player's own analytics integration does honour it. Umami's standard opt-out is honoured here: a browser in which the value umami.disabled is set to 1 in this site's local storage is not recorded.

Any request to any server necessarily reveals your IP address and the time of the request to that server; that is inherent to the web and applies to the analytics server as it does to the web server. What this site controls is that it adds no account, no cookie and no identifier of its own on top of that.

The player

The MyVoxBox player at player.myvoxbox.app is a separate application with its own privacy document, PRIVACY.md in its source, which is the governing description of what the player does; the player's Help tab summarises it. In short, the player keeps your library, listening positions, favourites, history and downloads in your browser, never in an account; it connects to LibriVox and the Internet Archive to find and play books; and the hosted player uses the same kind of limited, anonymous, cookie-free Umami analytics as this homepage, with its own website id. Where that document and this page describe this website differently, this page describes the website as deployed.

A link from this site to the player, such as "Listen in MyVoxBox", opens the player at an address that includes the book's LibriVox number. The player's analytics sees that address, as its privacy document explains.

Links to LibriVox, the Internet Archive, Wikipedia and Creative Commons leave this site; those organisations have their own privacy policies. The cover images and summaries shown here are copied to this site, so viewing a collection page requests nothing from LibriVox or the Internet Archive.

Summaries credited to Wikipedia on the collection pages are adapted from Wikipedia articles and are available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. Other summaries, the catalogue data and the cover art are published by LibriVox as public domain.
